Xelia has spent her entire career in Malaysia's dynamic funding ecosystem, with experience in both public and private sectors starting with a 100% owned entity of the Ministry of Finance that provides technology-related project funding. Whilst in this role, she was instrumental in bringing in an international games development company to set up a world-class games development centre in Malaysia. Other notable achievements include securing the largest loan portfolio among the investment team consecutively for many years. She was later hired by another GLC to manage a USD 50m creative content fund. During her time with the GLC, she was also given the task to create new corporate lending products as well as manage the restructuring of the legacy funding portfolio of the GLC.
Subsequently, upon full commitment to the fund, she was offered the role of VP of Investment in an early-stage technology funding agency, Cradle Fund, to revamp their investment products. During her time with the agency, she facilitated the funding of 185 entrepreneurs, some of whom went on to raise in total close to USD 30m from both local and foreign investors. Additionally, she also headed and implemented a tax incentive program for the government for early-stage investments by private individuals.
Currently, she is a Managing Partner in a hybrid accelerator and venture capital entity, ScaleUp Malaysia overseeing investor relations and partnerships, securing investments for both the Company and its portfolio companies. She has successfully raised funds from venture funds in Singapore as well as from high-net-worth individuals. One of her latest achievements is the successful set up of a registered venture fund.
Outside of ScaleUp Malaysia, She is also an active member of the Malaysian Business Angel Network ("MBAN"), serving as Treasurer and Council Member. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors of the ASEAN Business Angel Association and contributes to the Women Entrepreneur Committee of the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
